Tra Carson News
The Detroit Lions released running back Tra Carson, long snapper James Fisher, offensive guard Casey Tucker and punter Matt Wile on Monday. Detroit added running backs D'Andre Swift and Jason Huntley in the draft this past weekend, so they're trimming the fat with Carson. The 27-year-old split time with the Lions and Packers in 2019, running the ball just 18 times total for 48 scoreless yards in three games (one start). He was merely running back depth in Detroit and helped fill in when Kerryon Johnson went down with an injury last year. Wherever he lands, Carson won't be on the fantasy radar.
The Detroit Lions placed running back Tra Carson (hamstring) on the Injured Reserve on Saturday and signed running back Paul Perkins to the active roster from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Carson surprisingly led the Kerryon Johnson-less backfield in carries last week, but he'll now miss the rest of the season. Rookie Ty Johnson will now be a more attractive RB3/flex in deeper leagues against Oakland, while J.D. McKissic will serve as a change-of-pace back. Perkins should serve as the No. 3 in Detroit.
Detroit Lions running back Tra Carson (hamstring) and defensive tackle Damon Harrison (groin) were both limited in practice on Friday and are questionable for Week 9 against the Raiders. Carson led the backfield in carries in the first week without Kerryon Johnson, but the Lions still operated as more of a three-headed monster with rookie Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic also involved. If Carson is inactive, it'd make Johnson more attractive as an RB3/flex in deeper leagues. If Carson does play, this is a situation best avoided if at all possible. Harrison being absent would be great news for Raiders rookie running back Josh Jacobs.
