Lucas Patrick News
Chicago Bears center Lucas Patrick (back) is officially doubtful to return against the Detroit Lions in Week 11. The 30-year-old has played the vast majority of snaps this season. In fact, he dealt with a similar back injury a few weeks ago but it didn't require him to miss any games. Dan Feeney should see more playing time for the duration of Patrick's absence.
Chicago Bears center Lucas Patrick (thumb) suffered a broken thumb in training camp and is expected to require surgery. According to head coach Matt Eberflus, there is no timetable for his return to action. Rookie center Doug Kramer got reps with the first-team offense in Patrick's absence, so he could be relied on to fill in the hole until he is back. Sam Mustipher could be an option as well, so it remains to be seen how the work will be split up. With Tampa Bay Buccaneers center Ryan Jensen (knee) suffering a potentially season-ending injury and Patrick now out indefinitely, we could see some free agent centers like JC Tretter and Matt Paradis find new homes during training camp.
The Chicago Bears agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with $4 million fully guaranteed in Year 1 on Tuesday with former Green Bay Packers interior offensive lineman Lucas Patrick, according to a source. The 28-year-old will stay in the NFC North and will head to Chicago, where he'll serve as a versatile offensive lineman. Patrick started 15 games at right guard for the Packers in 2020 before making 13 starts at center last season. The Bears had a need for better interior offensive line play, so Patrick will fit the bill, but it's unclear if he'll be used at guard or center. Patrick played in 73 games (34 starts) in his first five NFL seasons, all with the Packers.
