Troymaine Pope News
Los Angeles Chargers running back Troymaine Pope (neck) is officially active for the team's Week 10 game against the Miami Dolphins. Pope rushed the ball 10 times for 67 yards the last time he was active, in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. Last week, he was out with a concussion. Pope will likely split carries with Joshua Kelley and Kalen Ballage in Week 10. It's hard to say exactly how big of a share each running back will get, but all three are risky starts and should be considered low-end flex options only in deep leagues.
Los Angeles Chargers running back Troymaine Pope (concussion) is questionable for Week 10 against the Dolphins. Offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga (back) and offensive guard Trai Turner (groin) are also questionable. Pope practiced all week, so he has a good chance at playing after sitting out in Week 9. The 26-year-old handled 10 carries for 67 yards in the Week 8 loss to the Broncos, and the Bolts are expected to go with a committee approach in the backfield with Pope, Kalen Ballage and Joshua Kelley with both Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson out this week. Kelley has really struggled with his opportunities since Ekeler went down, so Pope has a chance to see some touches on Sunday if he plays. However, the uncertainty in this backfield makes Pope a fantasy long shot.
Los Angeles Chargers running back Troymaine Pope is scheduled to return in Week 10 from a concussion that held him out in Week 9. Pope came out of nowhere to receive 29% of the backfield work in Week 8 and he made the most of it by rushing 10 times for 67 yards and catching five balls for 28 yards. Pope will go up against a Dolphins Defense that is allowing just a hair under 100 yards to opposing runners and around five receptions for 44 yards to pass-catching running backs. Pope figures to get most of his work in the pass game and that should benefit his value. Justin Jackson (knee) is also questionable with a knee injury, but Kalen Ballage performed well in Week 9 and rookie Joshua Kelley still figures to be involved. Even with a messy backfield situation, Pope has PPR value in Week 10 and would get a bump if Jackson is unavailable. Pope should be treated as a low-end flex option with sneaky value in Week 10.
