Kevin King News
Green Bay Packers impending free-agent cornerback Kevin King played more defensive snaps (304) when he played in only six games in 2018 than he did in 2021 (303), when he played in 10 games. The emergence of Rasul Douglas and Eric Stokes also pushed King further down the depth chart, so the Packers really have no reason to re-sign him this offseason on another one-year, prove-it deal given his lack of availability due to injuries and his suspect skills. The 26-year-old had just 29 tackles (21 solo), one interception and three passes defensed in 10 games played (six starts) for the Packers last season.
Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King (shoulder) has been ruled out in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears because of a shoulder injury he suffered in last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Green Bay will also be without starting corner Jaire Alexander (shoulder) after he went on Injured Reserve last week. It may not matter, though, as Chicago has the fewest passing yards (566) in the league and the second-fewest pass attempts (122) through five games. The Packers will only have one of their top three corners available on Sunday in first-rounder Eric Stokes. Stokes and Yiadom will likely start on the outside, with Chandon Sullivan in the slot in nickel packages. Green Bay will obviously be more vulnerable in the secondary this weekend, but they'll still be worth streaming consideration in Week 6 against rookie quarterback Justin Fields.
The Green Bay Packers re-signed cornerback Kevin King to a one-year, $6 million deal on Tuesday, according to a source. King was the team's first-round pick back in 2017, but he's battled through injuries and inconsistency, and he allowed Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady's 39-yard touchdown pass with one second left in the first half last year's NFC Championship game. He has never been healthy for an entire season and missed five games in 2020 with a quadriceps injury. King has missed 23 of a possible 64 regular season games in his four-year career. He has six career interceptions (five in 2019). The Packers starting secondary from a year ago -- King, All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander and safeties Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage -- will remain intact in 2021.
