  • Curtis Samuel Had Surgery

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Curtis Samuel (ankle) needed surgery to repair both a broken bone and ligament damage following his Week 10 injury. Samuel caught 15 passes for a measly 115 yards and no touchdowns as a rookie. He was hurt far more often than he was healthy, as he also battled back and hamstring issues. Samuel was finally sent to Injured Reserve in late November. He currently has no timetable for recovery and remains in a boot during his rehab. The team is optimistic Samuel will be ready for training camp come July.

  • Curtis Samuel Out For The Season

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Curtis Samuel (ankle) suffered ligament damage to his ankle and will be out for the rest of the season, according to a source. It's a big blow to an offense that recently traded away Kelvin Benjamin, although they managed to set a franchise record for most offensive yards in a game Monday night against the Dolphins. Samuel was starting to take on a bigger role as the No. 2 wideout opposite Devin Funchess, and he'll finish his rookie season with 15 catches for 115 yards in nine games. In his absence, Russell Shepard and Kaelin Clay will have expanded roles in the passing game. Shepard is the preferred target in deeper leagues. Tight end Greg Olsen's (foot) expected return in Week 12 should help mitigate the loss of Samuel. You can safely drop Samuel in redraft leagues, but his high upside makes him one to stash in all dynasty/keeper setups. .

  • Curtis Samuel Could Be Out For Season

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said there is concern that wide receiver Curtis Samuel (ankle) suffered a season-ending injury Monday night. It's at least a high ankle sprain, but additional tests will tell us more. It's a shame, as Samuel's role had increased significantly with Kelvin Benjamin out of town, and he was becoming fantasy-relevant. In his absence, Russell Shepard and Kaelin Clay will see their roles expanded in the passing game, although the expected return of tight end Greg Olsen (foot) in Week 12 could temper their workloads. Carolina could also get receiver Damiere Byrd (forearm) back off Injured Reserve in Week 12 against the Jets.
