  • Aaron Rodgers Causes Issues With Return To IR

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was placed on Injured Reserve following last week's loss to the Panthers, something that bothers many teams, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rodgers came off IR to play in Week 15 but returned a week later after the Packers were eliminated from the postseason. In order to be placed on IR, a player needs to have suffered a new injury that would sideline him for at least six weeks. Per NFL rules, if a player is sent to IR without suffering a new injury, the team is required to release him once healthy. It is fairly obvious that Green Bay bent the rules in regards to Rodgers' injury, though there is little chance of the Packers releasing their franchise cornerstone.

  • Aaron Rodgers Will Not Require Any Further Procedures

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) will not require any further procedures on his injured collarbone. According to head coach Mike McCarthy, Rodgers is squarely in rest and recovery mode with a distinct rehab plan moving forward. Rodgers was placed on Injured Reserve after playing in Week 15. The star quarterback broke his collarbone in Week 6 and required surgery. He returned in Week 15 to try and lead Green Bay into the playoffs, but a loss to Carolina ended any playoff hopes. With Green Bay out of the postseason, there was no longer any reason to risk further injury, so Rodgers was shut down for the rest of the year. His absence will harm the fantasy value of all Green Bay skill players. Rodgers should return in 2018 at full strength. He should once again be one the best quarterbacks in fantasy and will likely be one of the first quarterbacks picked in redraft leagues next year.

  • Aaron Rodgers Placed on Injured Reserve

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) has been placed on Injured Reserve after playing only one game in his return from injury. Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 6 but returned in Week 15 to try and help Green Bay make a push for the playoffs. With a loss last Sunday, Green Bay has been eliminated from the playoffs. With no reason to risk further injury, Rodgers was shut down by Green Bay. Brett Hundley will start in Rodgers' place for the final two weeks of the season. This news is a big blow to the fantasy values of wide receivers Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson. Davante Adams has played admirably with Hundley under center, but he is currently in the concussion protocol. Green Bay will likely lean more heavily on the run in Week 16 now that Rodgers is out, potentially boosting the production of running back Jamaal Williams. Rodgers should be back to his elite form in 2018, but fantasy owners will need to find a different quarterback for the remainder of the season.
