Jamaal Charles News
Running back Jamaal Charles officially retired on Wednesday after 11 professional seasons and signed a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 32-year-old was a third-round pick in 2008 and spent nine years in KC, becoming the team's all-time leading rusher with 7,260 yards, including five 1,000-yard seasons on the ground. Charles was a two-time All-Pro in 2010 and 2013 and was named to four Pro Bowls. He lost most of his explosiveness when he tore his ACL in 2015, and he bounced around several teams the last couple seasons. It might be a stretch for him to get into the Hall of Fame, but Charles was one of the most effective all-around backs in his heyday.
The Jacksonville Jaguars released running back Jamaal Charles on Monday after he had only six carries in two games. With the team acquiring Carlos Hyde last Friday, there's no need for Charles on the roster with Leonard Fournette (hamstring) likely sidelined through the team's Week 9 bye.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Jamaal Charles has a long history of productive NFL play, but his latest stop in his post-Chiefs career doesn't represent another chance to contribute for the veteran. Charles had 10 yards on six total touches last week and hasn't shown anything to suggest he should be in fantasy lineups in Week 7.
