The Carolina Panthers have locked up place kicker Graham Gano on a long-term deal, so they will not have to place the franchise tag on him, according to a source. His deal is for four years. While Gano doesn't have the strongest leg in the NFL, he was 0-for-1 on 50-plus yard attempts last year, he did make 29 of his 30 tries and remains one of the more consistent booters for fantasy owners.

The New York Giants are expected to pursue Carolina Panthers impending free-agent place kicker Graham Gano when free agency kicks off March 12, according to a source. Gano has been with Carolina since 2012 and was the kicker when new Giants general manager Dave Gettleman was with the Panthers from 2013-16. The Giants would like to move on from kicker Aldrick Rosas, and Gano earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2017 by leading the league by making 96.7 percent of his kicks (29 of 30). However, the Panthers could place the franchise tag on Gano and block him from the open market. Gano should be an acceptable fantasy kicker no matter where he is playing in 2018.

The Carolina Panthers are more likely to put the franchise tag on place kicker Graham Gano than offensive guard Andrew Norwell. Gano has been the team's kicker for the last six seasons, and he made 29 of his 30 field goal attempts in 2017, including 10 of 10 from 40 to 49 yards out. However, he missed his only opportunity of 50-plus yards, and he's made 17 of his 31 attempts from 50-plus yards in his career. While Gano doesn't have the strongest kicking leg, he's been consistent for fantasy owners and could have more opportunities for field goals with new offensive coordinator Norv Turner emphasizing stretching the field.
