Sean Lee News
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons with the Cowboys on Monday. While injuries ended up defining his career, Lee also made two Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2016. The 34-year-old has five of the top-seven tackle games in Dallas history, including a record 22 against the New York Giants in 2016. Lee also recorded 14 career interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), five fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles 59 tackles for loss and four sacks in his 11 seasons with the Cowboys. He played in 118 games over 10 seasons, missing one full year after suffering a torn ACL in his knee.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee (hernia) and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring) have both been designated to come off of Injured Reserve as soon as this Sunday versus Washington. Lee has yet to suit up for the Cowboys Defense in 2020, having been sidelined due to a sports hernia. Awuzie played in two games, collecting an interception before hitting the IR. The eventual return of both players will be a boon for a defense that has struggled mightily this season. Even with a favorable matchup against Washington on Sunday, Dallas' defensive unit will have some work to do before it works its way into season-long consideration in most formats.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee (hernia) is expected to be out for six weeks after having hernia surgery last week in Philadelphia with specialist Dr. William Meyers, according to sources. Lee began the season on Injured Reserve and now may not return until mid-October. It's especially notable after Leighton Vander Esch broke his collarbone in the Week 1 loss to the Rams on Sunday night. The injuries to the middle of Dallas' defense will put more responsibility on both Jaylon Smith and Aldon Smith, with the latter being a bright spot in the season opener. Both Smiths will be in play as IDP starters at the position in Week 2, but the Cowboys Defense should be avoided against a strong Falcons passing attack.
