Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will line up at nose tackle in defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 scheme this year in the base defense. Aaron Donald will continue to play the "three-technique" spot, which typically lines up on the outside shoulder of an offensive guard. Suh is as disruptive a presence on the interior of a defense as there is in the NFL, and his sack numbers may also rise while playing alongside Donald in what is one of the best defenses on paper right now.
Free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. According to Schefter, Suh took less to sign with the Rams. This has been the expected outcome for much of the past week after it was reported the Rams entered the conversation. Suh was reportedly very intrigued by the idea of teaming up with Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers while playing for defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Even at 31 years old, Suh remains one of the very best interior lineman, even if the counting stats weren't there for him in 2017. Look for Phillips to get the most out of him, allowing him to one gap and attack upfield.
Free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh would be a disruptive force to whomever he signs with, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Los Angeles Rams "appear to be the front-runner" for Suh. That appeared to be the case once the Jets bowed out of the sweepstakes, but Rapoport adds the Titans and Saints are still in the running. Suh was cut by the Dolphins two weeks ago.
