Corey Liuget News
Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Corey Liuget was officially placed on injured reserve after he underwent surgery to repair his torn quad tendon this week. Liuget was considered one of the key pieces in the resurgence of the LA defense, but his loss probably won't be too huge a blow this week. The Chargers are facing a Cardinals offense that is last in the league in yards and next to last in points. Though Arizona's defense has been pretty impressive, their offense has been a complete mess. They've only topped 20 points once in the last five games, and LA's defense should be comfortably started in all formats with or without Liuget.
Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Corey Liuget took it to rookie Baker Mayfield last week, and he'll be licking his chops for the chance to tee off on Marcus Mariota in London. Mariota was sacked 11 times last week, and Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel expressed to reporters that LA's pass rush is a scary even without their No. 1 defensive player. While Vrabel was focused on Melvin Ingram, and rightfully so, teams' double-teaming and scheming for Ingram have opened them up for exploitation by other players like Liuget. Expect Liuget and his fellow defensive linemen like Brandon Mebane and Damion Square to bring the heat again this week.
The Los Angeles Chargers will welcome back defensive tackle Corey Liuget from his four-game suspension this week. Liuget was suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy, but he has sued his former trainer. Liuget will return to a defensive line rotation that is in desperate need of someone who can pressure the quarterback and help out the secondary. So far, LA is tied for 22nd in the league with just eight sacks, mostly because Joey Bosa has been out. While Liuget isn't nearly the force that Bosa is, his addition to the group should help free up more space for pressure from other areas. While head coach Anthony Lynn hasn't committed to letting Liuget play yet in Week 5, it's expected he'll see the field.
