A.Q. Shipley News
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said that backup center A.Q. Shipley (neck), who started the last two games, is out for the season and has been advised to end his playing career after his latest injury. The 34-year-old suffered a neck injury late in the fourth quarter of the Monday night loss to the Rams in Week 11. "He had had this injury back in 2013 I believe," Arians said. "Once we did the MRI and X-rays, it was determined that he really shouldn't play anymore." Shipley will finish his career with 110 games played and 72 starts and will go into coaching, according to Arians. Arians was the offensive coordinator with the Steelers when the team selected Shipley in the seventh round of the 2009 draft.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers center A.Q. Shipley (neck), who has been filling in as a starter the last two weeks, may be dealing with a career-ending neck injury, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Shipley left the Monday night loss to the Rams in the fourth quarter. It's bad news for a Tampa offensive line that is already without starting left guard Ali Marpet, who has missed three games with a concussion. Starting center Ryan Jensen was moved to left guard because of Marpet's injury after Joe Haeg struggled in the blowout loss to the Saints. Left tackle Donovan Smith (ankle) also missed practice this week. It's something to watch for quarterback Tom Brady's protection heading into Week 12 in their contest against the Chiefs.
Arizona Cardinals starting center A.Q. Shipley (knee) tore the ACL in his left knee on Saturday and is out for the season, according to head coach Steve Wilks. It's a big blow to an improved Arizona offensive line. Rookie Mason Cole may now be in line to start immediately in Week 1.
