George Iloka News
Former Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings safety George Iloka worked out for the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday with the idea that he could serve as a cover linebacker. Iloka hasn't played since tearing his ACL midway through the 2020 season, but he has been working towards a return to the NFL. The 32-year-old played in only four games with the Vikings before his devastating knee injury in 2020. He was originally drafted in the fifth round by the Bengals in 2012 out of Boise State. Iloka has 365 tackles (246 solo), 10 tackles for loss, three QB hits, nine interceptions, 32 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 103 career games (79 starts) in his eight NFL seasons.
Minnesota Vikings veteran safety and special teams contributor George Iloka (knee) suffered a torn ACL in practice on Wednesday and will undergo season-ending surgery, according to a league source. Iloka was put on Injured Reserve on Thursday after just signing with the team in September. His injury leaves rookie Josh Metellus as the only safety on the active roster behind Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris. The 30-year-old Iloka had just six tackles (five solo) and one tackle for a loss in four games for Minnesota this season, but it's more bad news for a 1-5 Vikings whose defense ranks 28th in the league with 3.8 fantasy points per game.
The Dallas Cowboys signed free-agent safety George Iloka to an undisclosed one-year deal on Saturday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The seven-year safety played the first six seasons of his career with the Bengals but disappointed with only 16 tackles in 16 games (three starts) for the Vikings in 2018. It's looking like Iloka will have a starting role with his new team in Dallas.
