Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones made good on just four receptions for 54 yards when he scored a fourth-quarter touchdown in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. Jones was targeted nine times, which tied him with Kenny Golladay for the game. It was great to see Jones find the endzone this week, as he and Golladay are both becoming big-play threats for the Lions. With the pace the Lions are on, Jones should continue to have plenty of opportunities to put up solid numbers.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones caught four of eight targets for 54 yards in Week1's bad loss to the Jets. The Lions were passing almost exclusively in the second half; however, Matthew Stafford was looking at Golden Tate and Kenny Golladay more, as they each totaled double-digit targets. While it's not like Jones was non-existent, a smaller target share in a prominent passing game script doesn't look good for the Lions' leading receiver from 2017. Then you add in that Jones will likely draw Richard Sherman in coverage this week, and it adds a few question marks to the matchup. Jones is in play if your league has two flex spots, but it's hard to consider him a must start this week.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones was the third wheel for targets in Monday night's loss to the Jets. He hauled in four-of-eight targets for 54 yards. Matthew Stafford targeted Golden Tate and Kenny Golladay 27 times combined, so Jones definitely did not see as many chances. However, Jones was being shadowed by the Jets' Trumaine Johnson, so it wasn't the easiest matchup. The Lions' offense was off on all fronts in the season opener, so look for Jones to get back on track next week against the 49ers.
