Bruce Irvin News
Veteran pass-rusher Bruce Irvin signed with the Chicago Bears on Thursday, according to a source. Irvin will give the Bears some more edge-rushing depth with Khalil Mack (foot) missing the last two weeks of action. Irvin was a first-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012 and has 52 career sacks and 118 QB hits in 10 seasons with the Seahawks, Raiders, Falcons and Panthers. The 34-year-old played in just two games for Seattle in 2020 before he tore the ACL in his right knee. He has yet to play a game this year and isn't the player he once was, but he can at least give the Bears some quality veteran depth until Mack is able to return. Mack has six sacks in 2021, second to only Robert Quinn's 6.5.
Seattle Seahawks defensive end/outside linebacker Bruce Irvin (knee) recently had a second surgery for a torn ACL that he suffered in the Week 2 win over the Patriots. "He's come out of that really well but he's behind because of that," head coach Pete Carroll said. Irvin is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and the 33-year-old could encounter a frigid market since there's a chance he won't be ready for the 2021 season. Irvin had a career-high 8.5 sacks in 13 games (12 starts) for the Panthers in 2019, also recording 36 combined tackles (eight for loss), 16 QB hits and a fumble recovery, but he had zero sacks in his two games this year before blowing his knee out.
Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker Bruce Irvin (knee) tore his ACL in the Week 2 win over the Patriots on Sunday night and will miss the rest of the 2020 season, according to a source. It's a tough blow for the 32-year-old veteran, especially since the Seahawks Defense had allowed close to 1,000 total yards of offense combined to the Falcons and Patriots in the first two weeks. Rookie first-rounder Jordyn Brooks will need to step up in the middle of Seattle's defense for the rest of the season. Against a Cowboys team that made a miraculous comeback in Week 2 with over 40 points, you should be looking to avoid the Seahawks defense in fantasy.
