Jordan Poyer News
Former Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer is signing an undisclosed one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, according to his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln. Poyer, an All-Pro in 2021 and a Pro Bowler in 2022 with the Bills, had 100 tackles (66 solo), one sack, four passes defended and one forced fumble in 16 regular-season starts in his seventh and final season in Buffalo in 2023. He will join the division-rival Dolphins after the Bills cut him last week. The soon-to-be 33-year-old veteran defensive back may be past his days of fantasy relevance in IDP formats and is now more of an injury risk, but he should form a strong safety duo in his new home in Miami with Jevon Holland. Poyer has had 100-plus combined tackles in four of his last six seasons and also 17 interceptions during that span.
The Buffalo Bills are releasing long-time starting safety Jordan Poyer, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The one-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro signed with the Bills in 2017 and has played in 107 games for the organization. Originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Poyer has accumulated 807 tackles, 12 sacks, 24 interceptions, and 54 passes defended over his 12-year career. The 32-year-old is now a free agent, and it will be interesting to see if he has a robust market considering his age. The release of Poyer saves the Bills $5.7 million on the cap.
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said on WRG550 on Friday that safety Jordan Poyer (knee) is out for the Week 4 divisional showdown against the Miami Dolphins. Poyer suffered a knee injury in the Week 3 blowout win over the Washington Commanders and will be unable to suit up this weekend as a result after not practicing this week. The 32-year-old is considered day-to-day, though, so perhaps he'll be able to return in Week 5 against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars. Losing Poyer for this game is certainly notable against the best offense in the league through the first three weeks of the season. The Bills defensive unit was the top-scoring unit in fantasy last week, but managers should temper expectations against Miami.
