Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray restructured his contract ahead of the deadline Friday, when he would've been guaranteed $5.15 million. Murray ran for 842 yards and eight touchdowns for the Vikes last season, but he saw more work than expected when rookie Dalvin Cook blew out his knee early in the year. With Cook expected back healthy in 2018 in the lead role, Murray will be unlikely to put up those kind of numbers again. He'll mostly be a short-yardage, touchdown-dependent fantasy back.

Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray totaled only 29 all-purpose yards as the Vikings were bounced from the playoffs by the Eagles 38-7. Murray saw only six carries in the game for 18 yards, his lowest carry total since September 24th. Turnovers really took the Vikings out of their game plan and Murray never had a chance to get going. Murray came on slowly this season and never got a true opportunity until rookie standout Dalvin Cook tore his ACL. Once given the chance, Murray put up eight rushing touchdowns, 842 yards and had eight games of 68 rushing yards or more. Murray may struggle to repeat those numbers next year with Cook re-entering the mix but certainly has helped his value heading into the offseason.

Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray will have a tough matchup Sunday against the Eagles in the NFC Championship game. It will be tough sledding against a defensive unit that has allowed the second fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. Up until the Cowboys' Ezekiell Elliott's 103 yards in Week 17, the Eagles had not allowed a single 100-yard runner all season. Murray has become a reliable force in the red zone, scoring eight rushing touchdowns in the regular season and punching in for another score last week in the playoffs against the Saints. But the Eagles have allowed only three rushing touchdowns since Week 4, making this one of the stingiest matchups Murray will see all season. Murray could struggle to post a solid fantasy stat line and will be a touchdown-dependent option this championship weekend.
