After visiting with the New Orleans Saints, running back Benny Cunningham has agreed to re-sign with the Chicago Bears on Monday, according to a source. In his first year in Chicago last year, Cunningham had a career-low nine carries for 29 yards, but he did have 20 receptions over 14 games. Cunningham will fight for work behind Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen, but he's more of a special teams guy.

Chicago Bears running back Benny Cunningham (ankle) is practicing in full Thursday after making a quick return from a high ankle sprain. Usually high ankle sprains keep players out for a month or longer, so Cunningham's injury must not have been as serious as initially thought. Cunningham has no fantasy value unless Jordan Howard or Tarik Cohen miss time with injuries.

The erstwhile Ram finds a new home in Chicago. Cunningham has never gotten a lot of work, but he's done okay with what he's gotten. He's averaged 4.4 yards per carry in his career, and is also a decent pass catcher. The deal is reported to be for one-year, so at this point it doesn't look like Cunningham figures into the Bears long term plans. Cunningham's role might be as a returner, something he's done consistently well at in his career. Cunningham's still off the fantasy radar but it's possible he supplants Jeremy Langford and/or Ka'Deem Carey as the primary back up to Jordan Howard.
