Jaron Brown News
The San Francisco 49ers are signing veteran free-agent wide receiver Jaron Brown, adding further depth to their wide receiver corps. It's been an eventful past week at the wide receiver position for the team. The 49ers signed fellow veteran wide receivers J.J. Nelson and Tavon Austin, yet they also lost wide receiver Jalen Hurd (knee) to a torn ACL. Brown spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, playing sparingly and compiling just 220 yards on 16 receptions. He likely won't have a significant role in the offense, but he at least gives the team more veteran depth at the position. San Fran is also bracing for Deebo Samuel (foot) to potentially miss the beginning of the season.
The San Francisco 49ers are working out veteran wide receiver Jaron Brown on Monday, according to a source. Brown spent the last two years with the Seahawks, catching only 16 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns in 2019. He has spent seven seasons in the NFC West with the Seahawks and Cardinals and is looking to stay in the division. It comes after it was reported that Jalen Hurd suffered a major knee injury in training camp, so Brown could provide the Niners with some much-needed receiver depth with both Deebo Samuel (foot) and Hurd injured. Even if Brown signs with San Fran, he'll be battling for a depth position and is unlikely to have much fantasy appeal.
Seattle Seahawks wide receivers Jaron Brown (knee) and Malik Turner (concussion) were taken off the final injury report for the Divisional Round against the Packers on Sunday. They'll both play after missing the wild-card game against the Eagles. It means that Brown and Turner will now rotate in with David Moore as the No. 3 wideout behind Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. In this run-first offense, nobody outside of Lockett or Metcalf can be trusted in fantasy lineups. Seattle is expected to run the rock often as long as game script allows against a Green Bay rushing defense that is very vulnerable.
