Stephon Tuitt News
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt, who is only 29 years old, announced on Wednesday that he is retiring. Tuitt missed all of last season due to personal reasons after his brother was killed by a car during organized team activities last year. He played in only six games in 2019 due to injury, but when he was on the field, he was highly productive for the Steelers. Tuitt racked up 45 tackles (33 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 25 QB hits, a career-high 11 sacks, three passes defensed and two forced fumbles in 15 starts in his final season in 2020. He was originally a second-round pick in 2014 out of Notre Dame, and he'll finish his career with 246 tackles (176 solo), 48 tackles for loss, 94 QB hits, 34.5 sacks, one interception, 13 passes defensed and six forced fumbles in 91 games (79 starts) in seven NFL seasons, all with Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers activated defensive end Stephon Tuitt from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday. Tuitt has 31 tackles and seven sacks in 10 games and has also forced two fumbles and has two passes defensed. His return is a huge boost for a defense that just lost linebacker Bud Dupree (knee) to a season-ending torn ACL. Defensive lineman Chris Wormley was also activated from the Injured Reserve, returning the team's defensive line to full health. Tuitt went on the COVID-19 list on Nov. 27 and missed the Week 12 win over the Ravens on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has been a starting defensive lineman in IDP leagues in 2020 and ranks 10th at the position through 10 games in overall fantasy points. Pittsburgh's defensive unit will be a top-three play in Week 13 against Washington on Monday.
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt (COVID-19 list) was activated off of the COVID-19/reserve list Saturday, paving the way for a potential return to action in Week 13 for Monday's game versus Washington. Having landed on the list prior to last week's game versus Baltimore, Tuitt has now cleared protocols and is eligible to return to practice. Tuitt has started all 10 games that he has appeared in this season, having compiled a career-high seven sacks to this point in 2020. His addition to the Steelers Defense solidifies the group as one of the top defensive units in fantasy, one that should undoubtedly be rostered in a favorable matchup against Washington this week.
