Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue is likely to make the team because of his special teams abilities, and he's expected to open the year as the No. 3 back behind Lamar Miller and D'Onta Foreman. However, with injury concerns surrounding Foreman, Blue could be thrust into a more prominent role in the backfield at some point. Blue played in only 11 games in 2017, carrying the ball 71 times for 262 yards and one score. Unless an injury opens up more time, he can be left to the waiver wire.
The Houston Texas re-signed running back Alfred Blue to a one-year deal Monday, according to a source. Blue had a career-low 71 carries for 262 yards (3.7 yards per carry) and one touchdown in 2017 in his fourth year in Houston. He's not a big part of the passing game either. Unless Lamar Miller or D'Onta Foreman are injured, Blue won't have much fantasy significance.
Free-agent running back Alfred Blue has several teams interested in him, including the Steelers, but the Houston Texans aren't ruling out re-signing him. The Texans could use the depth after D'Onta Foreman tore his Achilles on Nov. 19. Blue rushed for 262 yards and a touchdown on 71 carries in 11 games in 2017 for Houston, and he also hauled in seven catches for 54 yards. Blue played more on special teams (198 snaps) than on offense (156 snaps) in 2017. If he returns to the Texans, Blue would be a handcuff option for Foreman owners.
