Greg Olsen News
Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen (foot) and defensive lineman Bryan Mone (ankle) will be activated from Injured Reserve and are set to play in Week 16 against the division-rival Rams, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Olsen was put on IR on Nov. 23 after he suffered a planta fascia tear in his foot in Week 11. The veteran tight end will be another weapon for quarterback Russell Wilson down the stretch and into the postseason, but the 35-year-old is on his last legs and won't be a realistic fantasy starter with fantasy titles on the line. Olsen has just 23 catches on 35 targets for 224 yards and a touchdown in 10 games (eight starts) in his first year in Seattle. His return will also mean fewer targets for tight ends Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister, who had been splitting the workload in Olsen's absence.
Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen (foot) is trending toward being active for Sunday's contest against the Rams, provided that he makes it through the week without any setbacks during practice. Olsen sustained a tear in his plantar fascia during Week 11, which seemed destined to end his 2020 season at the least. But the veteran has hit the rehab grind hard and plans to factor into plans against a strong Rams Defense in Week 16. Not having found the end zone since Week 1, while likely to be eased back into the fold alongside Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister, Olsen doesn't have much fantasy upside to close the regular season. Come the playoffs, his highest appeal should come as a punt play target at the TE spot in small-slate DFS formats.
The Seattle Seahawks are opening tight end Greg Olsen's (foot) 21-day window to return to practice after being put on Injured Reserve. Olsen now has a chance to reach his goal of returning before the end of the 2020 season in what could very well be his last year in the NFL. While the 35-year-old veteran is returning to practice this week, it's still highly unlikely that he'll be active for Week 15 against the Washington Football Team. Even before Olsen's injury in Week 11 against the Cardinals, he hadn't really done much for fantasy owners, catching 23 passes (35 targets) for 224 yards and only one touchdown in 10 games in his first season in Seattle. Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister will continue to share the tight end workload until Olsen is able to return.
