Shane Ray News
Buffalo Bills linebacker Shane Ray, a former first-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2015, is attempting a comeback in the NFL in 2023 after dealing with various injuries over the last five years. The 30-year-old attended Buffalo's rookie minicamp in May before getting signed for an opportunity to win one of the team's final roster spots this summer. By March of 2019, Ray was out of a job with the Broncos after two injury-limited seasons and four wrist surgeries. The 30-year-old had 12 sacks and 28 QB hits in his first 30 games, so the Bills and Ray are hoping he can find some of that magic again this year to give them more pass-rushing depth. Rays spent the last two seasons playing in Toronto in the CFL.
Denver Broncos linebacker Shane Ray (wrist) did not end up having surgery on his wrist over the summer, as his doctor didn't think it was necessary, according to sources. Ray's timetable for a return is now much quicker than expected. It means he could be ready for the start of the regular season, but it's not a lock for that to happen. Ray disappointed last year with one sack in just eight games played after recording eight in 2016. The Broncos declined his fifth-year option, so he'll need to step it up if he wants to stick around. That might be difficult with rookie defensive end Bradley Chubb taking over as the main pass rusher opposite Von Miller.
Denver Broncos linebacker Shane Ray (wrist) is scheduled to undergo bone fusion surgery on Thursday, and doctors are optimistic that this will be the final procedure he'll need before getting back to full health. It's Ray's fourth operation on his wrist, and it caused him to miss eight games in 2017. He's questionable for the start of the regular season now and can be avoided in IDP leagues. Rookie defensive end Bradley Chubb should be able to adequately fill in for Ray opposite Von Miller.
