Landon Collins Lands Lucrative Deal With Redskins

Free-agent safety Landon Collins agreed to terms on a six-year contract worth $48 million with the Washington Redskins on Monday. The 25-year-old tackle machine has averaged 109.3 total stops over his first four NFL campaigns with the New York Giants. He also has registered four sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, eight interceptions and a defensive score while averaging eight passes defensed per season. His addition helps a Washington pass defense which allowed 237.1 yards per game and 27 touchdowns with 52 pass plays of 20 or more yards. The Redskins DST are still a borderline low-end No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy unit heading into 2019.

Giants Won't Use Franchise Tag On Landon Collins

The New York Giants informed safety Landon Collins that they won't use the franchise tag on him on Tuesday, which will make Collins the top player on the free-agent market, according to sources. The 25-year-old will receive plenty of interest on the open market. Collins was an All-Pro in 2016 and has recorded 100-plus tackles in three of his four NFL seasons and has eight interceptions over that span. He should continue to be fantasy relevant in IDP leagues no matter what team he lands with on the open market.

Landon Collins Going To IR

New York Giants safety Landon Collins (shoulder) will go on Injured Reserve and needs surgery for his shoulder injury, according to a source. His procedure will likely take place next week. Collins is one of the better safeties in the NFL and had 96 tackles, a forced fumble and four passes defensed on the year. His loss is one that the Giants secondary can't really afford and it'll make life easier on Redskins quarterback Mark Sanchez in Week 14, although he's unlikely to take advantage of it.
