Eddie Goldman News
The Atlanta Falcons are signing former standout defensive tackle Eddie Goldman to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Goldman has come out of retirement and is attempting a comeback in 2024. The 30-year-old was a second-round selection (39th overall) by the Chicago Bears in 2015 out of Florida State, and Goldman spent the first six seasons of his career in the Windy City. He signed with Atlanta in 2022 before deciding to retire in each of the last two seasons. Goldman apparently can't make up his mind to walk away from the game and is going to attempt to run it back with the Falcons this year, but he hasn't played in an NFL game since 2021 with Chicago. In his six seasons with the Bears, Goldman has 175 tackles (116 solo), 13 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 21 QB hits and two fumble recoveries in 81 games (73 starts).
Veteran defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, who had recently signed with the Atlanta Falcons, informed the team on Tuesday that he's retiring instead, according to a source. The former Chicago Bears standout is 28 years old and played in only six seasons in the NFL. He was originally selected in the second round of the 2015 draft by the Bears out of Florida State. Goldman spent all six of his NFL seasons in Chicago before signing this offseason with Atlanta. In 81 career games (73 starts), he racked up 13 sacks, 175 tackles (116 solo), 18 tackles for loss, 21 QB hits and two fumble recoveries.
The Atlanta Falcons signed free-agent defensive tackle Eddie Goldman to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday, according to a source. Interior defensive line depth was a question mark for the Falcons with training camp approaching, so the 28-year-old Goldman is a nice pickup. Atlanta is banking on young defensive tackles Marlon Davidson and Ta'Quon Graham to step up alongside Grady Jarrett. The Chicago Bears tried to trade Goldman before releasing him this offseason. In his sixth season with Chicago in 2021, he had 22 tackles (14 solo) and half a sack in 14 games (10 starts). The former second-round pick in 2015 has a total of 175 tackles (116 solo), 18 tackles for loss, 21 QB hits and 13 sacks in 81 career games.
