La'el Collins News
Free-agent offensive tackle La'El Collins will work out for the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. Assuming Collins is able to pass a physical, the Cowboys could sign him to their practice squad so that he can work his way into football shape. The 30-year-old spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys before joining the Cincinnati Bengals last year. He hasn't played with anyone so far this season after tearing his ACL and MCL last year, but he could be a familiar face for the Cowboys to provide offensive-line depth as the team heads into the postseason. There's no guarantee that Collins will work his way onto Dallas' 53-man active roster by wild-card weekend.
Veteran free-agent offensive lineman La'El Collins worked out for the New York Jets on Tuesday and is now on his way to visit with the New York Giants, according to a source. The former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman played in 15 games for the Cincinnati Bengals but also tore both his ACL and MCL in his left knee in Week 16. The Bengals cut him on Sept. 12 after he passed a physical. The 30-year-old can give any team some veteran experience on the offensive line. The Giants are especially in need of some reinforcements on their offensive line due to injuries and poor play that have basically stopped their offense dead in its tracks with running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) hurt.
The Cincinnati Bengals released right tackle La'El Collins (knee) on Tuesday. Collins began the 2023 regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering ACL and MCL tears in his left knee in Week 16 in 2022 in his first year in Cincy, so he was going to miss at least the first four weeks of this season. With the 30-year-old injured to start the season, Jonah Williams has stepped in as the team's starting right tackle. Collins should be able to latch on with another team for offensive-line depth once he gets past his knee injury. The former undrafted free agent out of LSU played the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys before joining the Bengals last year.
