Kasen Williams News
Indianapolis Colts veteran wide receiver Kasen Williams has an opportunity to climb the team's depth chart with the recent string of injuries to pass catchers, according to George Bremer of CNHI Sports Indiana. The former Seattle Seahawk saw work with the first-team offense after T.Y. Hilton and K.J. Brent both left practice on Saturday with injuries. Although Williams is big-bodied and has been touted for his exceptional releases, it's unlikely that he beats out Ryan Grant for the No. 2 wide receiver job barring injury. Williams can be safely ignored in fantasy leagues until he gets a bigger target share in the Colts offense.
The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent wide receiver Kasen Williams and waived wide receiver DeAndre Smelter on Friday. As an undrafted free agent out of Washington, Williams has played in 10 career games and has totaled 10 receptions for 92 yards and one carry for five yards in his time with the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. As a move to add depth at an ailing position, it is unlikely that Williams will be on the field much in 2018 unless he can somehow move past Ryan Grant and Chester Rogers on the depth chart.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Kasen Williams told reporters on Thursday that he expects to see a larger role with the team going forward. Williams, signed by the Browns after the Seattle Seahawks let him go at the end of the preseason, played on just 12-of-66 snaps in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He failed to make a catch on two targets, although he just missed picking up a long gain when he couldn't keep his feet in bounds following a catch. Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson has put starting receiver Kenny Britt on notice after Britt has struggled with drops since the preseason. It's doubtful the Browns would bench Britt, but if they do, Williams could be his replacement opposite Corey Coleman. For now, Williams is just a deep dynasty stash.
