Tyler Boyd News
According to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic, free agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd doesn't appear to be heading to the Steelers. "From what I have been told, Boyd was extremely interested in Pittsburgh at the beginning of the free-agency process," wrote Kaboly. "But the offer wasn't something he was comfortable with." It's only April, so it is possible both sides could revisit things after the NFL Draft. However, Boyd should have more than a few teams willing to sign him, with recent reports suggesting that the Chiefs, Chargers, Dolphins, Lions, and 49ers have expressed interest in bringing him in. With that said, the 2016 No. 55 overall pick is coming off a down year, amassing 67 catches for 667 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games. Yet, Boyd should still command attention from fantasy managers heading into the 2024-25 campaign, although his outlook is contingent on where he lands during the offseason.
The Athletic's Mark Kaboly writes that the biggest hurdle in free-agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd joining the Pittsburgh Steelers are the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets. The Jets are considered a dark horse as they look to give quarterback Aaron Rodgers another receiving target. The 29-year-old veteran slot receiver has taken a back seat to both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in recent seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, but Boyd did have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Cincy in 2018 and 2019 and could see his fantasy stock be revived with a new club in 2024. The most intriguing landing spot would of course be with the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs, where he'd be the No. 3 target behind Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and free-agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd have mutual interest and have had dialogue about him returning to play in his hometown. No deal is imminent between the two sides, but there is more than just smoke here. Pittsburgh could use another receiver after trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday and George Pickens the only experienced wideout on their current roster. The 29-year-old Boyd is from Western Pennsylvania and played his college ball at Pitt. The former second-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016 had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Cincy in 2018 and 2019 but was relegated to third-string duties in recent years with the additions of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. If Boyd lands with the Steelers, he'd be working with quarterback Russell Wilson in 2024.
