Javon Hargrave News
San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (thumb) finished the 2023 season playing with a torn ligament in his thumb, according to general manager John Lynch. It makes Hargraves' second Pro Bowl campaign even more impressive. The 31-year-old finished his first year in San Francisco with 44 tackles (25 solo), seven sacks, eight tackles for loss and 14 QB hits in 16 regular season starts a year after putting up a career-high 11 sacks in 17 regular season contests with the Philadelphia Eagles. It's unclear if Hargrave will need surgery to fix his torn ligament in his thumb, but even if he does, he shouldn't have any issues being ready to go for the start of the 2024 campaign.
Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave reached an agreement on a four-year, $80 million deal on Monday with the San Francisco 49ers, according to sources. The deal includes $40 million guaranteed at signing. The 30-year-old cashes in after becoming one of the best interior pass-rushers in the league over the last few seasons, and he'll join an already feared Niners defensive front. Hargrave could be even more productive with his new team. He made his first Pro Bowl with Philly in 2021 and finished last season with 60 tackles (37 solo), a career-high 11 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 17 regular season contests.
Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Javon Hargrave (pectoral) and Derek Barnett (ankle) both have a realistic shot at being ready for the season opener against the Washington Football Team, according to sources. Hargrave is dealing with a pectoral strain and Barnett has been sidelined in training camp with an ankle sprain. It's good news for a dangerous Philadelphia defensive line. Assuming the Eagles key defenders can stay healthy throughout the season, the Eagles Defense should at least be in consideration as a low-end starting fantasy defensive unit to begin the 2020 season.
