Alex Collins News
The Baltimore Ravens announced the passing of former running back Alex Collins on Monday night. The 28-year-old had some notable performances for the Seahawks and Ravens over the years. In five seasons with both clubs, he amassed nearly 2,000 rushing yards off 483 touches. Collins also found the end zone 19 times and accumulated 467 receiving yards. The cause of death hasn't been made public. Everyone at RotoBaller would like to express our condolences to Collins' family during this difficult time.
The Seattle Seahawks placed running back Alex Collins (abdomen) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday and activated cornerback Bless Austin from the Reserve/COVID-19 list in a corresponding move. Seattle also signed running back Josh Johnson to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Even when Collins was the team's primary running back following Chris Carson's season-ending neck injury, he didn't do a whole lot with his opportunity and was more of a low-upside RB3/flex. The 27-year-old will finish his season with 108 carries for 411 yards (3.8 yards per carry) and two touchdowns while adding nine catches on 10 targets for 87 yards in 11 games. Rashaad Penny, who had another big game in Week 17, will finish off the year as Seattle's featured back.
Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins (abdomen), who came into the Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions as questionable, has been ruled out for Sunday's game. Collins hasn't been valuable to fantasy managers in a while. Rashaad Penny has become Seattle's lead back and will have a pristine matchup against a poor Lions rush defense in Week 17. Behind Penny, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer will be battling for backfield touches, although neither one of them has any kind of standalone fantasy value in a Seahawks offense that has been very inconsistent in the second half of the season. When healthy, Collins might actually be the No. 4 Seahawks RB at this point.
