DeShone Kizer News
Tennessee Titans quarterback DeShone Kizer has looked good in organized team activities and minicamp this offseason, especially on midrange routes across the middle. Kizer worked only with quarterbacks coach Pat O'Hara last year as the team's "quarantine QB," and his quick decision-making in offseason practices is evidence that he has a strong understanding of the playbook. Like starter Ryan Tannehill, the fifth-year veteran can make most of the necessary throws and can also make plays on the move. Kizer looks ready to compete with Logan Woodside for the backup job in training camp next month. The 25-year-old last played in 2018 with the Green Bay Packers, but he should be at least serviceable if he's forced into action in 2021 because of a Tannehill injury.
Quarterback DeShone Kizer was brought in for a workout with the Detroit Lions on Thursday as a potential reserve signal-caller. Kizer has not appeared in a regular season contest since 2018 as a member of the Packers. He entered the league as a second-round pick in 2017, but went 0-15 during his tenure as the Browns starting quarterback. Kizer also recently worked out for the Titans. He holds no fantasy interest at this stage, but would join Chase Daniel and David Blough in competition for being Matthew Staffords backup should he sign with Detroit.
The Las Vegas Raiders cut quarterback DeShone Kizer on Tuesday, according to a source. Kizer didn't play at all last year after serving as quarterback depth behind Derek Carr for the Raiders. He's already been with three different teams since being a second-round pick (52nd overall) back in 2017 with the Browns. At best, Kizer would've been the No. 3 behind Carr and expensive backup Marcus Mariota in Las Vegas. Nathan Peterman will now serve as the No. 3 with Kizer moving on. If he finds another team, it'll be strictly as quarterback depth.
