Mo Alie-Cox News
The Athletic's James Boyd writes that Indianapolis Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox is an easy target if the team wishes to create more salary cap space this offseason. He's entering the final year of a three-year, $17.6 million contract extension that he signed in 2022. Alie-Cox is due the last $5.9 million of that in 2024, but none of it is guaranteed. The 30-year-old is the team's best blocking tight end and has recorded at least three touchdowns in each of the last three seasons, but he's not getting any younger and is unlikely to develop into a true No. 1 pass-catching tight end at this point of his career. Both Will Mallory and third-year tight end Jelani Woods, who missed all of 2023 with hamstring issues, give the Colts more upside at the position amid their current youth movement. Alie-Cox hasn't been much more than a low-upside, touchdown-dependent TE2 option for fantasy managers in deep leagues.
Indianapolis Colts veteran tight end Mo Alie-Cox is coming off back-to-back games with a touchdown. Alie-Cox has three touchdowns on the season, despite not having more than two receptions in a single game this year. He now gets ready to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, a defense that's allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to the position this season. The former VCU basketball standout has virtually no floor to work with, but fantasy managers in desperate need of filling their tight-end spot can throw in Alie-Cox with the hopes that he finds pay dirt for the third week in a row.
Indianapolis Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox (concussion) has cleared the league's concussion protocol, and his questionable designation for the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars has been lifted. Alie-Cox will now be active for Sunday's game against the division rivals, but he's still not on the fantasy radar while seeing his snap percentages dip in recent weeks with both Kylen Granson and Drew Ogletree healthy. The 30-year-old veteran has just three receptions on five targets for 67 yards and one touchdown through five weeks of the season. Don't expect him to be a major factor for the Colts through the air this weekend. His availability will also hurt what limited upside Granson has as a fantasy weapon.
