Taywan Taylor News
The Cleveland Browns parted ways with wide receivers Taywan Taylor and Damion Ratley in roster cutdowns on Saturday morning. Taylor spent one season with the Browns after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2017 draft. He was a popular fantasy sleeper at one time but he was never able to translate the hype into production on the field. Taylor drew just one target in three games with Cleveland in 2019. Ratley was a sixth-round draft pick by Cleveland in the 2018 season and caught 25 passes for 344 yards and a touchdown in 26 games. Both will look to catch on with other clubs, although they may have to settle for a spot on a team's practice squad.
The Cleveland Browns acquired Taywan Taylor from the Tennessee Titans on Saturday. In return, Cleveland will send an undisclosed 2020 draft pick to the Titans. Taylor wasn't going to make the final roster after the Titans signed Adam Humphries and drafted A.J. Brown. Taylor can probably slot in as the WR4 behind Rashard Higgins moving forward. Once a well-regarded prospect, Taylor has a bit to prove at the NFL level.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor played exclusively with the third-string offense in the preseason Week 3 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Taylor, who was once projected to be a starter this season, has fallen down the depth chart with a poor training camp. It is now very possible that Taylor is cut by the Titans before the start of the season should they decide to keep just five receivers. Taylor's ineffective play has opened up a door for rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown to have an early impact in the 2019 season.
