Trey Hendrickson News
Outside of pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson, the Cincinnati Bengals didn't have much of a pass rush in 2023. Hendrickson had 17.5 sacks and 79 pressures. Sam Hubbard was second on the team in sacks at six, while B.J. Hill was second in pressures with 42. The Bengals could also lose defensive tackle DJ Reader, who tore his quadriceps muscle in December, in free agency. Cincinnati needs to find a way to get constant pressure up the middle to complement their edge rushers, and they need a disruptive complement for Hill at the three-technique position. The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. writes that the Bengals really just need any help they can get at defensive tackle this offseason.
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (knee) faces an uphill battle to play on Thursday, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. Hendrickson got hurt late in the Bengals' 30-27 loss against the Houston Texans last week and suffered a hyperextended knee in the contest. But Fowler said he "wouldn't put it past him to at least try [to play this week]." The Bengals' defensive end did upgrade his practice status on Tuesday and practiced in a limited fashion. Even if he's active for Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens, he might be extremely limited. So, in IDP leagues, he should likely only be started in extremely deep leagues.
The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive end Trey Hendrickson to an undisclosed one-year contract extension on Thursday that will take him through the 2025 season. Hendrickson has earned the extension with Cincinnati after making the Pro Bowl in each of the last two years. In 2022, he finished with 32 tackles (22 solo), eight sacks, six tackles for loss, 24 QB hits and three forced fumbles in 15 regular-season starts after posting a career-high 14 sacks in 2021. The 28-year-old former third-rounder in 2017 has become an integral part of the Bengals' pass rush, and he'll be a bench option at the defensive line position in deeper IDP fantasy formats in 2023.
