Uchenna Nwosu News
Seattle Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (pectoral) suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in October of the 2023 campaign, but he said he expects to be ready for training camp this offseason. The former Los Angeles Chargers second-round pick in 2018 had his best season as a pro in his first year with Seattle (2022), totaling career highs in tackles (66), sacks (9.5), forced fumbles (three), and run stuffs (12.5). The 27-year-old appeared in just six games last year and collected two sacks. Nwosu is projected to be a starter in the first season under new head coach Mike Macdonald, who is known for helping develop defenders.
Seattle Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (pectoral) needs season-ending surgery on his torn pectoral muscle, according to a source. Head coach Pete Carroll previously said "it looks like" Nwosu would need surgery on his pectoral. The 26-year-old linebacker suffered the torn pectoral muscle in the Week 7 win over the Arizona Cardinals and won't be able to return until 2024. The former second-rounder will finish his 2023 campaign with 16 tackles (12 solo), four tackles for loss, six QB hits and two forced fumbles in his second year in Seattle. With Nwosu out the rest of the way, Derick Hall will have a bigger role in the middle of Seattle's defense moving forward.
Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu signed a three-year contract extension on Monday worth up to $59 million, according to his agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha. The deal also includes $32 million in guarantees. Nwosu signed a two-year, $19.055 million deal before last season, but he'll get an extension after having a career year last season. The 26-year-old pass-rusher had 66 tackles (42 solo), 9.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 17 starts in his first season with the Seahawks. Nwosu should once again be a key edge rusher for the team in 2023.
