Jaylen Samuels News
Arizona Cardinals running back Jaylen Samuels has been released by the organization. The 25-year-old was drafted in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018. Samuels saw 55-plus carries during his first two seasons in Pittsburgh. Since then, Samuels has a total of 14 carries over the last two years. Most recently, Samuels made three appearances with the Houston Texans in 2021. He was expected to be depth for the Cardinals, but they've decided to move on. Now, Darrel Williams is likely to move up on the depth chart without Samuels on the roster. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about where Samuels lands. He'll basically be a depth option, assuming he signs with another organization.
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald (concussion) and running back Jaylen Samuels (groin) both were missing from practice on Wednesday. Not only is McDonald questionable for Week 15 against the Bills on Sunday night, but he hasn't cleared 50 yards the entire season and has only three touchdowns. He has just five catches for 25 yards in the last three games combined. Even if he's active, he can't be trusted in fantasy lineups in a very difficult draw in Buffalo. Nick Vannett would be a desperation TE2 if McDonald is inactive. Samuels is basically useless in fantasy with James Conner (shoulder) expected to return this Sunday.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Samuels rushed for 16 yards on seven carries, while catching two passes for 18 yards in Sundays 23-17 win over Arizona. Samuels is supposed to be the pass-catching back in the offense but his recent stat line doesnt show it. The second-year back has 15 receptions for just 96 yards and a touchdown in the last five games. If James Conner (shoulder) returns for the Bills game in Week 15, Samuels could see an uptick in usage as the Conner draws a bit more attention than Benny Snell Jr.. However, its hard to trust Samuels at all during fantasy playoff time.
