Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie News
Veteran free-agent cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who has been linked to a coaching job at his alma mater of Tennessee State, hasn't given up the idea of playing in the NFL and has workouts scheduled post-draft. He would only coach if there are no more playing opportunities. The 35-year-old didn't play at all in 2020 and played in only two games in 2019 with the Washington Football Team. The two-time Pro Bowler was the 16th overall pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. DRC spent the first three seasons of his career with the Cardinals before playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Oakland Raiders. It may be more of a long shot that he makes a return to an NFL field.
The Washington Redskins are expected to sign free-agent cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to an undisclosed deal, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. DRC announced his retirement just five months ago but has decided to give it another go. He'll be reunited with former Giants teammate Landon Collins, so signed a six-year deal this week. Rodgers-Cromartie will turn 33 on April 7, and it's fair to wonder how much he has left physically. He has plenty of experience and is expected to offer cornerback depth on a team that also has Josh Norman.
Oakland Raiders cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has announced his retirement on Tuesday. DRC had just eight tackles and a forced fumble in limited playing time for the Raiders this season. He'll finish his 11-year career with 2.5 sacks, 30 interceptions and six touchdowns while playing for the Cardinals, Eagles, Broncos, Giants and Raiders.
