Tramon Williams News
Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday, and he's now on track to become the first player in NFL history to play for two different teams in the same postseason. Williams started the playoffs with the Ravens before signing with the Packers. More importantly, Williams' elevation to the active roster could be a sign that cornerback Kevin King (back), who is questionable for the NFC Championship game against the Buccaneers, won't be available on Sunday. King landed on the injury report on Friday and didn't practice, so he could be on the wrong side of questionable. Losing King would be a downgrade for Green Bay's defense against a Tampa offense that has plenty of aerial weapons, even with Antonio Brown (knee) not playing.
The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran cornerback Tramon Williams on Tuesday to provide some experienced depth to their injury riddled secondary. The 37-year-old will replace Khalil Dorsey (shoulder), who became the fourth cornerback to be put on Injured Reserve this season due to a dislocated shoulder. Williams is a 13-year NFL veteran and will serve as a backup to Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters and Jimmy Smith. He's played in 199 career games for the Packers, Browns and Cardinals. Tavon Young, Anthony Averett and Iman Marshall are also on the IR for the Ravens secondary, although Dorsey and Averett are expected to return at some point. Despite the injuries, Baltimore is deep with talent and remain a high-end fantasy starting unit. They'll face a very mediocre Patriots offense in Week 10.
Free agent cornerback Tramon Williams will return to the Green Bay Packers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Williams will sign a two-year, $10 deal deal with the the Pack. The 35-year-old Williams played the first eight seasons of his career for the Packers, winning a Super Bowl in 2010, and has played for the Browns and Cardinals the last two seasons. While he is not the Pro Bowl corner that he has been in the past, he did have 12 passes defended and two interceptions in 2017 and will be a nice addition for a beleaguered Packers' defense.
