Donald Penn News
Three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Donald Penn announced his retirement on Monday after signing a one-day contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Penn was an undrafted free agent out of Utah State and played 14 seasons in the NFL, including five with the Raiders and eight with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not play in 2020. The 37-year-old played in 194 career games (189 starts), including 66 games and starts with the Raiders. He immediately became a stalwart at left tackle after signing with the Silver and Black as a free agent in 2014. Penn played almost exclusively at left tackle in his 14-year career and played in 112 games (108 starts) in his first eight NFL seasons with the Buccaneers.
The Oakland Raiders placed right tackle Donald Penn (groin) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday after he suffered a groin injury in Week 4, according to sources. He should be able to return this year, but he'll have to miss at least eight weeks. Penn hasn't been very good for Oakland so far this year, so it's not a huge loss. However, it now means that rookies Kolton Miller and Brandon Parker will be book-ending Oakland's offensive line moving forward.
Oakland Raiders left tackle Donald Penn (foot), who is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list while recovering from Lisfranc surgery, has been asked to take a "small pay cut," according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. If Penn declines, the Raiders could release him or trade him. Rookie offensive tackle Kolton Miller could immediately step in and start at left tackle, so the team is open to moving on from the 35-year-old Penn. He's set to make around $8.4 million this year after he held out for most of training camp and two preseason games last year before signing a two-year, $21 million extension in September.
