Free-agent quarterback Drew Brees signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal is reported to be worth $50 million (with $27 million guaranteed) as the future Hall of Fame quarterback returns to New Orleans. Rapoport said earlier Tuesday that the two sides made progress Monday, as offensive tackle Zach Streif's retirement opened up money, and now Brees will return to New Orleans, where he has played since 2006. Brees is still a top-10 quarterback, but the offense appears to be more focused on the rushing attack of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara.

Free-agent quarterback Drew Brees is unlikely to move away from New Orleans, but Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network says that the Minnesota Vikings have approached the future Hall of Famer. Brees' situation is becoming more fluid, as the Saints have yet to aggressively move to sign their franchise quarterback. There has been almost zero belief he could actually leave New Orleans, but we are less than 48 hours from the start of free agency and there has seemingly been zero movement in talks. It makes all the sense in the world for Brees to at least feign interest in other teams as he negotiates with the Saints. The Vikings should consider at least negotiating with Brees as they try to call free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins' hand in free agency.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is set to be a free agent, but Saints general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed the team's plans to re-sign Brees. He met with Saints brass Thursday night at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis to discuss a new contract. When asked about the meeting, Loomis said, "I think the important thing is Drew wants to be a New Orleans Saint and we want him to be a New Orleans Saint, so he's going to be a New Orleans Saint." Brees has said he has no plans to play for another team and it looks like he will be back for a 13th season in New Orleans. Even with the Saints featuring a more balanced offense last season, the 39-year-old was still among the league leaders in quarterback rating (103.9), passing yards (4,334) and completion percentage (72.0). This could be Brees' last contract.
