Marshal Yanda News
Baltimore Ravens offensive guard Marshal Yanda will announce his retirement on Wednesday. Yanda, 35, played all 13 of his seasons with the Ravens and will finish with one of the most decorated careers for an offensive lineman in NFL history. He was a third-round pick in 2007 and was one of three guards in NFL history to earn at least eight Pro Bowl nods as a guard and win a Super Bowl. His retirement will free up $7 million in salary cap space but will also leave a major void at right guard. How the Ravens O-line performs in 2020 without Yanda as their leader will be something to watch.
The Baltimore Ravens agreed to an undisclosed one-year contract extension with seven-time Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda on Thursday, according to league sources. Yanda was entering the final season of his current deal, so he'll be locked in through the 2020 season now. Yanda remains one of the best offensive guards in football, and his signing is great news for quarterback Lamar Jackson and running backs Gus Edwards and Mark Ingram in this run-first approach.
The Baltimore Ravens expect Pro Bowl right guard Marshal Yanda to play in 2019. There had been speculation that Yanda was considering retirement, but the Ravens fully believe he'll be their starting right guard this year. It would be a big blow to the Ravens, an extremely run-first team under new franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson, if Yanda hung up his cleats this offseason.
