TJ Lang News
Detroit Lions right guard T.J. Lang returned for his first practice in several weeks. Head coach Matt Patricia has been very tight lipped about injuries this preseason, so it is unclear what exactly kept Lang out for so long, including the team's first three preseason games. However, just last week, Lang mentioned that if it was the regular season, he would be going about things like business as usual. Nonetheless, it is encouraging to see the Pro Bowler back on the practice field as the Lions prepare for their final preseason game on Thursday against the Cleveland Browns.
Detroit Lions right guard T.J. Lang considers himself "day-to-day" and states that his absence during the last few weeks of practice are precautionary. Lang has been sidelined with an unknown injury, but he believes that if it was the regular season, it would be business as usual. In his absence, the Lions' offensive line has struggled mightily in their first two preseason games, allowing eight sacks and 14 quarterback hits. If true, this is not uncommon for veterans to take extra precaution throughout the preseason. However, with the Lions offense expected to carry the weight again this year, the team will anxiously await the Pro Bowler's return.
Detroit Lions right guard T.J. Lang missed another practice on Monday afternoon. Lang has now missed out on practice for over a week, including missing the Lions preseason game against the New York Giants on Friday. While his current injury is unknown, Lang has a recent history of injuries after missing three games in 2017 due to various ailments. The Lions offensive front has been having well-documented issues this preseason, allowing eight sacks in two games. However, Lang made the Pro Bowl last season despite missing time, so his presence is detrimental to keeping quarterbackMatthew Stafford protected.
