Eddy Pineiro Hits Game-Winner Against Vikings

Chicago Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro drilled all four of his field goal attempts, including a game-winning field goal, in the Bears 21-19 win over the Vikings. Kicking indoors, Pineiro kicked with confidence to end his inconsistent first season on a high note. Piniero finishes the season 23 of 28 on field goal attempts but questions remain about his long-term future as the team's kicker. Pineiro nailed a 52-yard game-winner against the Broncos in Week 2 but missed a 38-yarder against the Chargers in Week 8 that cost the team the game. In addition, it seemed that coach Matt Nagy lacked confidence in his kicker from beyond 40 yards as the season went on. Pineiro will need to make some serious strides in the offseason if he hopes to stick with the team long-term.

Bears Not Giving Up On Eddy Pineiro

Chicago Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro missed two more field goals -- one from 47 yards and one from 48 yards out -- in Sunday night's loss to the Rams. Pineiro was 8-for-10 on his field goals and perfect on extra points going into the bye week, but he's hitting just 50 percent of his kicks since then and hasn't made a field goal since going 3-for-5 against the Chargers. Head coach Matt Nagy is disappointed in Pineiro, but he's not ready to make a change at the position just yet. Im not worried about anything right now, Pieiro said. Ive just go to keep making kicks in practice, go back and see what I did wrong, and just try to make kicks. Even in a good matchup with the Giants next week, Pineiro shouldn't be in starting lineups.

Eddy Pineiro's Missed Field Goal Sinks Bears

Chicago Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro made 3 of 5 field goal attempts in the Bears 17-16 loss to the Chargers in Week 8. Pineiro hit the uprights on a 33-yard attempt in the first half and then was called upon to win the game with :04 left. But Pineiro missed again from 41 yards as time expired and now the Bears season is quickly slipping away. The rookie kicker has done a solid job this season and now has made 12 of 15 field goal attempts. But his failure to win this one will stick with Bears fans for awhile, sending flashbacks to the team's kicking woes with Cody Parkey last season.
