Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Travis Etienne Jr. put his talent on display for the first time in Thursday's practice. Per John Shipley, "Etienne broke off several long runs on Thursday," and "made several nice catches out of the backfield, showing off the ability to catch outside his frame." Etienne's performance littered with big plays and catches out of the backfield illustrates his path to being a legitimate RB2 in 2021. Etienne has the burst and skillset to make the most of his carries while he dominates the passing game work. Etienne is currently being drafted as a high-end RB3 in drafts, but in PPR formats he's a worthy candidate to see his ADP rise into RB2 territory as camp progresses.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz completed 20 of 31 pass attempts for 247 yards, one touchdown, and an interception during Sunday's 27-24 Week 2 loss against the Los Angeles Rams. Wentz also carried five times for 37 yards in a tightly contested game that ended as a loss. He targeted the wide receivers much more often than he did in Week 1, as Michael Pittman Jr. caught eight of 12 targets for 123 yards. Wentz is good but not great and should only be inserted as a decent QB2 in SuperFlex leagues.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow finished with 207 yards on 19-for-30 passing during the Week 2 loss to Chicago. Although the former LSU Tiger threw two touchdowns, connecting with Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase for scores for the second consecutive week, he also tossed three picks, with one of them going back for a defensive trip to the end zone. Nonetheless, it was foreseen that he would have a few rough outings here or there this year, primarily after undergoing knee surgery during the offseason. Burrow will look to get back in Week 3 against the Steelers, with the 24-year-old racking up 213 yards and a touchdown during his only career meeting against Pittsburgh.
Updating an earlier report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (leg) returned to the game on Sunday versus the Falcons. The veteran was spotting limping off the field after suffering a non-contact issue in his lower right leg. Evans was playing fantastic before he briefly left the game, racking up 75 yards and two touchdowns off five catches. Nonetheless, fantasy managers are undoubtedly glad to see him out there, so they can all breathe a collective sigh of relief.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk caught one of two passes for six yards in a 17-11 Week 2 win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Aiyuk ran fewer offensive snaps (47.3%) than Trent Sherfield (49.1%) and should be faded in PPR formats until he can become more of a factor within the 49ers' offense.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (leg) limped off the field during Sunday's matchup against the Falcons. It was a non-contact injury, too, which is certainly not a good thing. It's unfortunate timing for Evans, who was having himself a fantastic contest in Week 2 before suffering the lower leg ailment, compiling four catches for 49 yards and two touchdowns. More in his status should be revealed by the team soon.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings caught both of his targets for 11 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 17-11 Week 2 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The second-year wideout was drafted in the seventh round but was able to find the end zone during a defensive battle in Philadelphia. Jennings should remain on waiver wires but can be stashed on benches in deeper leagues.
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle caught all four of his targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 17-11 Week 2 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Kittle saw the team's second-highest target share at 17.6 percent behind Deebo Samuel, so fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about his outlook moving forward. Kyle Shanahan ran 38 rushing plays versus 30 passing, meaning Kittle will likely require a pass-centric gameplan in order to hit return top-three value.
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson hauled in one pass for 23 yards in a Week 2 loss to the Panthers. Johnson finished third on the team in targets and was the undisputed top option at the tight end position for News Orleans in Week 2. The athletic tight end may carve himself a role as the primary receiver at tight end for New Orleans- though fantasy managers will want to see a better effort out of the entire offense before they turn to Johnson for fantasy purposes.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey caught just one pass for 27 receiving yards in Sunday's blowout loss to the Panthers. Humphrey ended up as the team's leading receiver in a disappointing day for the offense. The 23-year-old has yet to seize the opportunity in front of him with Michael Thomas (ankle) sidelined, as he has totaled just one catch in two games played this season. Humphrey is firmly off the fantasy radar.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel caught six of eight targets for 90 yards during Sunday's 17-11 Week 2 win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Samuel was again the 49ers leading receiver and should be treated as a mid-range WR2 with WR1 upside moving forward. He is also involved in the 49ers' running game, carrying twice for eight yards during a second consecutive road win to elevate San Francisco to a 2-0 record.
