Free-agent guard Isaac Seumalo agreed to a three-year deal with the Steelers on Saturday. The 29-year-old has battled some injuries over the years. However, he appeared in all 17 games for the Eagles last season. Pittsburgh is apparently making the offensive line a priority, as the team also recently added Nate Herbig. The upgrade in protection could go a long way, especially concerning the development of Kenny Pickett. At the same time, Najee Harris, who has averaged 3.9 yards per carry during his career, should also benefit.
The New England Patriots re-signed quarterback Will Grier to their practice squad on Tuesday after they released him this past weekend. It was a bit odd that the Patriots waived Grier from the QB room with Mac Jones being benched yet again in the Week 12 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. The Patriots didn't even really announce a starter in the lead-up to the Week 12 contest coming out of their bye. After another multi-interception performance and benching after halftime, it would be a surprise if Jones made the starter over Bailey Zappe in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The 28-year-old Grier hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2019, but if things continue to get worse at the position for New England, we could see him in there before the end of the year.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (illness) was added to the Week 13 injury report on Tuesday after he was unable to practice due to an illness. The Cowboys play on Thursday night for the second straight week against the Seattle Seahawks. We'll keep a close eye on Parsons' status for this week's game, but he's likely to suit up. The 24-year-old former Defensive Rookie of the Year continues to be a disruptive pass-rushing force in his third NFL season, as he currently has 11.5 sacks, 40 tackles (22 solo), 13 tackles for loss, 23 QB hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery through 11 games. The two-time All-Pro is a must-start in all IDP fantasy leagues if he's active. Check back on Wednesday to see if he's cleared from the final injury report for Thursday's game.
Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant on Tuesday for the second straight day this week. Dowdle has been dealing with an ankle injury for the last couple of weeks but hasn't missed any game action. The 25-year-old could end up being questionable for this Thursday's matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, but it would be a surprise if he was ruled out. Dowdle has been pretty efficient as the primary backup to lead back Tony Pollard in 2023, but he's just not seeing enough volume to be a standalone fantasy lineup option. In the Thanksgiving win over the Washington Commanders in Week 12, Dowdle had just three carries for 11 yards but also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Free-agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard's visit with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday concluded without a contract, according to a person familiar with the situation. It doesn't mean that the two sides won't agree on something at a later date, but for now he has not signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys. The three-time Pro Bowler and ex-Indianapolis Colt was never expected to make a quick decision on his next team, and he may be waiting for another visit with an interested club such as the Philadelphia Eagles. The 28-year-old linebacker isn't what he once was after enduring a slew of injuries in recent years, but he can still make some noise and will bring veteran leadership to a defense. Dallas is in need at the position after losing both Leighton Vander Esch (neck) and DeMarvion Overshown (knee) for the year.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson (groin) said that he's feeling good and feels like he will be ready for the Week 13 showdown against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Johnson popped some scar tissue in his groin from last year, which is why he was held out of the Week 12 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday. The 33-year-old was a late addition to the team's injury report after he woke up with soreness in his groin on Sunday, and the Eagles held him out as a precaution. He's currently day-to-day, but if he's able to practice this week without any setbacks, Johnson should return to his starting role at right tackle for an elite Eagles offensive line this weekend. Getting the four-time Pro Bowler back will be good news for the Eagles' offense.
The Arizona Cardinals released running back Keaontay Ingram and defensive lineman Ben Stille from the active 53-man roster on Tuesday and released offensive lineman Austen Pleasants from the practice squad. The Cardinals are fully stocked at the running back position now that James Conner is back from Injured Reserve and after the team claimed Michael Carter off waivers from the New York Jets a few weeks ago. The Cardinals also have rookie Emari Demercado currently operating as the No. 3. The 24-year-old Ingram played in eight games (one start) for Arizona this year and had 35 rushing attempts for only 74 yards (2.11 yards per carry) while adding four receptions for an additional 26 yards through the air. Ingram will be hoping to latch on with another team as RB depth.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) gave some updates on his status in his recovery from a torn Achilles on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. "We're not where I can make a decision on playing because, health-wise, I'm improving steadily, but I'm not an ability to play at this point," Rodgers said. His next step will be throwing to teammates and going through the individual part of practice. Rodgers is currently running at 70% of his body weight at 8 mph on an anti-gravity treadmill and is back at the team's facility rehabbing full-time. Whether the 39-year-old future Hall of Famer will return to action in 2023 will come down to how healthy he is and whether the Jets are actually in the battle for a playoff spot. The Jets must first designate Rodgers to return from Injured Reserve, which would open up a 21-day window for him to officially be activated. It could still be a long shot, but if it does happen, he probably wouldn't return until around Week 16.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he hasn't seen anything this week that shows that running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) is recovered from the strained oblique he suffered in Week 11. Carroll said that Walker will "have questions" about his availability this Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys. Walker missed the Thanksgiving night loss to the San Francisco 49ers and has been a non-participant at practice on Monday and Tuesday this week. Unless he's able to practice on Wednesday, it's unlikely we'll see Walker play against Dallas, which would open the door for rookie Zach Charbonnet to make his second straight start. The 22-year-old had 14 carries for 47 yards and caught all four of his targets for 11 yards in the loss to the Niners.
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) will undergo thumb surgery on Wednesday in Los Angeles with the hope that he can return in two to three weeks, according to owner Jim Irsay. We haven't received any other specific details on the nature of Taylor's thumb injury, but it's obviously serious enough to sideline him for at least a couple of weeks. The 24-year-old is coming off a two-touchdown performance in the Week 12 win over the Tampa Buccaneers and has dominated Indy's backfield touches the last four weeks, so it's a big loss for fantasy managers with only several more weeks until the playoffs begin in most leagues. Zack Moss, who was the lead back in Weeks 2-4 with Taylor on the PUP list due to an ankle injury, will now take over primary RB duties for the Colts and will have RB2 upside this weekend against the Tennessee Titans.
Veteran running back Kenyan Drake was released by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday. The 29-year-old signed with Cleveland's practice squad on October 31, but he lasted just under a month with the organization. In a corresponding move, the Browns signed John Kelly Jr., who has been on and off the team's practice squad since 2020. Drake appears to be near the end of his NFL career after stops in Miami, Arizona, Baltimore, and Cleveland.
