Jackrabbit Jenkins News
The New Orleans Saints released cornerback Janoris Jenkins on Thursday, according to a source informed of the situation. Jenkins was due a $1.2 million fully guaranteed roster bonus, but before releasing him, the Saints turned it into a signing bonus and spread it out over two years, saving them an extra $600,000 against the salary cap. The veteran defensive back started 13 games for the team in 2020 and was a key member of their shutdown secondary. Cutting the 32-year-old will leave a big hole in New Orleans' secondary next to Marshon Lattimore. The latest move still leaves the Saints over the salary cap threshold, so there will surely be more moves to come as they try to get in under the salary cap for the 2021 season.
New Orleans Saints cornerback Janoris Jenkins (knee) left Sunday's contest versus Denver shortly before halftime due to a knee injury before eventually being marked questionable to return. He never did make it back to the field, but it appears that he has avoided a serious knee injury, with Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football reporting that Jenkins will be "fine." Jenkins logged one pass defended before his departure, with the Saints Defense finishing with a dominant performance in their Week 12 win, primarily due to its matchup against a practice squad wide receiver masquerading at quarterback. With Jenkins likely in the mix down the stretch, fantasy managers can continue to rely on a New Orleans defensive unit that entered Sunday having allowed the third-lowest yards per game average in the NFL.
New Orleans Saints cornerback Janoris Jenkins (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Broncos. The veteran defender has two interceptions and nine passes defender this year so far, as well as 37 tackles. If he misses time, the Saints Defense would take a slight hit in value, though aside from a Week 15 meeting with the Saints, they're past playing most of the top quarterbacks on their schedule.
