Eric Ebron News
The New York Giants worked out a group that included free-agent tight end Eric Ebron on Monday. The Giants lost both Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph this offseason, and promising rookie Daniel Bellinger (quadriceps) has begun training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, so New York could certainly use another body in the tight end room this summer. If the season were to start on Monday, veteran Ricky Seals-Jones would be the team's No. 1 option at the position, followed by Jordan Akins and Chris Myarick. Ebron, 29, played in only eight games in his second year with the Pittsburgh Steelers due to injury and finished with 12 catches on 18 targets for 84 yards and one touchdown.
Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent tight end Eric Ebron (knee) said on his Twitter account on Wednesday that he's been medically cleared by his doctor. Ebron landed on Injured Reserve after getting injured in Week 11 and underwent season-ending surgery. The 28-year-old ended up playing in only eight games in his first year in Pittsburgh, and even before his knee injury, rookie Pat Freiermuth was outperforming him at the tight end position. Ebron finished with a career-low 12 receptions on 18 targets for 84 yards and one touchdown in 2021. Freiermuth has a bright future in Pittsburgh, so it's likely that Ebron will be one and done with the Steelers. His 2022 fantasy value will depend on where he lands, but Ebron will probably be no better than a low-end TE1.
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Eric Ebron (knee) was placed on injured reserve on Saturday. This is hardly a surprise, primarily after he sustained a significant knee injury in Week 11 versus the Los Angeles Chargers. Nonetheless, the 28-year-old hasn't done much for his fantasy managers anyway, hauling in only 12 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown while being relegated to a lesser role behind rookie Pat Freiermuth, so this isn't a huge loss by any means. As a result of the latest update, Ebron can be dropped in all fantasy formats, especially since there is a good chance his year is over.
