Justin Simmons News
The Tennessee Titans are looking to add to their secondary this offseason. The organization is reportedly showing interest in free agent safety Justin Simmons. The two-time Pro Bowler was recently released by the Denver Broncos in a cap-saving move. It had nothing to do with his ability as he registered 70 tackles and three interceptions last season. Simmons still has plenty left in the tank and he should have a fairly strong market. The Titans were reportedly interested in C.J. Gardner-Johnson before he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, the Titans will go to Plan B, but Simmons is a great second option.
The Denver Broncos are releasing All-Pro safety Justin Simmons ahead of free agency. The move is one of the big surprises of the offseason thus far, but the organization has significant cap issues. His release will save the team $14.5 million on the cap. Originally a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Simmons has been named to two Pro Bowl rosters and four All-Pro teams. Since entering the league, his 30 interceptions lead all players. Now, he's set to become a free agent in a loaded safety class that includes Kevin Byard, Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs, Jordan Poyer, and more.
Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons (hip) was a limited participant in the team's practice on Tuesday. This was likely a designed limited day for Simmons, who missed Week 3 and Week 4 with a hip issue. After missing two games, he returned to the field in Week 5 and logged five tackles on 100% of the Broncos' defensive snaps. The former Pro Bowler will have one more chance to practice in full before the team faces off against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. Assuming he had no setbacks, Simmons should be on track to suit up.
