Tavon Young News
Free-agent cornerback Tavon Young signed a one-year, $1.365 million deal with the Chicago Bears. The deal includes $650,000 guaranteed with a $150,000 signing bonus, a $965,000 base salary ($500,000 guaranteed), $11,765 per game if active and up to $400,000 in playoff incentives. Young was released by the Baltimore Ravens last month after spending the first four seasons of his career with the team. The 28-year-old saw a decreased role in 2021 and finished with 35 tackles (30 solo), four tackles for loss, three QB hits, two sacks, one interception and three passes defensed in 17 games (seven starts). Expect Young to compete with Duke Shelley for playing time in Chicago in 2022.
The Baltimore Ravens released cornerback Tavon Young on Wednesday. In his fourth season with Baltimore in 2021, Young recorded 35 tackles (30 solo), four tackles for loss, three QB hits, one interception, three passes defensed and two sacks in 17 games (seven starts). The Ravens will save $5.8 million in salary cap space with the move while leaving behind $3.3 million in dead money. The 27-year-old was a fourth-round pick by the Ravens in 2016 out of Temple. He should draw interest from cornerback-needy teams looking for a slot cornerback, but Young may need to sign a one-year, prove-it deal.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tavon Young (concussion) won't return to Sunday's outing against the Packers. Jimmy Smith (illness) was ruled out ahead of the contest after he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, so it's another name added to an already long list of absences across the team's secondary. Aaron Rodgers has played well throughout the entire game, and unless something changes, Joe Burrow's fantasy stock looks even better heading into Week 16.
