Forrest Lamp News
New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Forrest Lamp (undisclosed) has been placed on the injured reserve. The organization has not released details on the injury, but it sounds like Lamp's season is over before it begins. The former second round pick played one game with the team last year, but missed most of the season due to injury. He came into the league with plenty of promise as a second round selection by the Los Angeles Chargers. Since then, he only has one full season under his belt through his first four years in the league. The loss of Lamp shouldn't impact the Saints o-line too much, but it's a shame to watch Lamp's career get ruined by injuries.
The New Orleans Saints re-signed offensive guard Forrest Lamp to an undisclosed deal on Thursday, according to a source. The former second-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers joined the Saints in October of last year but only played in one game in his fourth NFL season. The 28-year-old from Western Kentucky has struggled with injuries in his career and has played in only 26 games (18 starts) in his four NFL seasons. He will represent offensive line depth for the Saints this year.
The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent offensive guard Forrest Lamp to their practice squad on Tuesday, according to a source. Lamp is only 27 years old, is a former high second-round pick and started all 16 games last year for the Los Angeles Chargers, so there remains plenty of upside here. He's also fully recovered after suffering a calf injury at the beginning of training camp and the preseason with the Buffalo Bills. At 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, Lamp can play either guard spot and has shown solid technique as a pass and run-blocker. The key will be staying healthy, but he'll provide quality depth for the Saints offensive line. They've been without left tackle Terron Armstead and center Erik McCoy in recent weeks.
